Brussels, 18/06/2025 – On 27 June 2025, TEPSA will host a high-level conference in Brussels to discuss the challenges of post-truth politics and invite policy-makers, journalists, and researchers to explore how to reclaim liberal democracy in a post-factual age.
The event, titled “Frontiers of truth: Reclaiming liberal democracy in a post-factual world”, will take place at the VBO-FEB, in Rue Ravenstein 4, 1000 Brussels and will mark the final conference of the Horizon Europe-funded “Reclaiming Liberal Democracy in a Post-Factual Age” (RECLAIM) project, launched in 2022. The project has gathered experts from all over Europe to generate evidence-based policy recommendations, narratives, toolkits and methodologies to mitigate the effects of post-truth politics on European liberal democracies.
The final conference will comprise interactive panel discussions, quick-fire questions and keynote speeches, featuring high-level speakers from EU institutions, the media, and civil society organisations. The event will conclude with the live recording of the final episode of RECLAIM’s podcast series “Post-truth Be Told”, focusing on the challenges facing the European media ecosystem.
Commenting on what to expect from the final conference, Maximilian Conrad, Professor at the University of Iceland and RECLAIM Principal Investigator, said “Nowadays, citizens must learn to navigate an increasingly manipulative information environment. Thanks to the RECLAIM project, researchers have come together to address the multifaceted nature of post-truth politics. With this conference, we not only wish to share our main results and findings, but also include practitioners, policy-makers, and journalists into the discussion and generate solutions against the fragmentation of the public sphere and the spread of fake news”.
