Mariam Khotenashvili is TEPSA’s Executive Director and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges Campus). In cooperation with the TEPSA Board, she is responsible for the overall functioning of the Association and its Secretariat, conceptual planning of TEPSA’s activities and representing TEPSA vis-à-vis the EU institutions, Member State governments, the think-tank community and other partners. She adds visibility of the network’s research findings, helping to bridge academic knowledge with policy-making. Mariam also hosts TEPSA’s flagship video-series, EuropeChats.

Her background combines policy advocacy, research coordination, project management and academic work. Her fields of expertise include EU foreign and security policies and the EU’s enlargement and neighbourhood policies. She has written extensively on Russia’s war against Europe and on the EU’s response. She has given guest lectures at the London School of Economics and Centre International de formation européenne (CIFE), among others.

Mariam holds Master’s degrees in EU International Relations and Diplomacy (College of Europe) and in Conflict Studies and Human Rights (Utrecht University). Prior to joining TEPSA in 2016, Mariam worked for Transparency International Georgia and ALDA – The European Association for Local Democracy, having undertaken traineeships at the European Commission’s DG DEVCO and at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
