TEPSA-IIR panel discussion “Communicating Europe” during the Prague European Summit

The EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, the Institute of International Relations, together with TEPSA organised a panel on the topic of “Communicating Europe” during the Prague European Summit. The Prague European Summit has been established to trigger a strategic and open debate on the future of the European Union among high-level political representatives, government officials, business representatives, academia and journalists from the Czech Republic and all of the EU.

The panel discussion “Communicating Europe” took place on 19 June. The panelists were Daniel  Debomy,  Associate  Research  Fellow,  Institut  Jacques  Delors,  Paris, Elitsa  Kortenska,  Ph.D.  Candidate  at  Leiden  University,  Faculty  of  Governance  and  Global  Affairs and Kasia  Wojcik,  Theatre  artist,  Elected  Board  Member  of  the  Democracy  in  Europe  Movement  2025  (DiEM25)  in  Germany. The panel was moderated by  Karolína  Kottová,  Head  of  Political  Section,  Representation  of  the  European  Commission.

The discussants touched on many points, notably they talked about building trust in local government, national elections  across  Europe  for  the  future  of  European  integration, transnational party lists of EP elections and awareness about and interest in the EU and populism and public opinion.

More About Europe for Citizens

TEPSA was a beneficiary of an Operating Grant awarded in the framework of the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union for the period 2018-2020. Within its work programme, TEPSA organised a number of events both in Brussels and in the Member States, in cooperation with its member institutes. The Operating grant also supported the statutory activities of the TEPSA Secretariat, such as the meetings of the governing bodies and TEPSA’s communication activities.
