1st Networking Conference and Review Workshop of the Project “Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia Relations”

The Latvian Institute of International Affairs is hosting the 1st Networking Conference and Review Workshop of the SEnECA consortium. The two-day conference will discuss the current and the future priorities of EU-Central Asia cooperation. The project is implemented with the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme funding.

The 1st Networking Conference and Review Workshop of the Project “Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia Relations” will take place in Rīga, Latvia, 17 – 19 April 2018. The SEnECA consortium partners will come together in Rīga to discuss the methodology of the stakeholder analysis as well as the methodology of the mapping of European and Central Asian researchers. The consortium partners will discuss the conceptual and analytical toolkit and ways to promote networking with policy-makers and stakeholders for the further network and policy analysis. Furthermore, the event will provide the opportunity to review the respective working plans and the progress achieved by the SEnECA task leaders, as well as to review the general progress achieved by the members of the project’s Advisory Board. As part of the event, a public discussion “The EU and Central Asia” will take place with Peter Burian, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia (TBC), as one of the speakers.

The high-level panel discussion assesses the status and prospects of the cooperation between the EU and the Central Asian countries. How successful has the EU engagement in the region been so far? How do the activities of the EU align among activities of other external powers? How can the EU further strengthen and energize the relations with the Central Asian countries?

More About SEnECA

An international consortium, with twelve partner organisations from the EU and Central Asia mapped and analysed the relations between the two regions in order to make recommendations to stakeholders on future research cooperation, policies and communication. The project was funded with around 1.5 million Euros under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme for a period of two years.
