Baldur Þórhallsson, Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair in European Studies at the University of Iceland, is a candidate in the Presidential election to be held in Iceland on 1 June 2024.

Prof. Þórhallsson has been an active member of the TEPSA network. He is a former Chair of the Board of Iceland’s Institute of International Affairs, and it was during his tenure of this position that the IIA became a TEPSA member in 2009. He is now Research Director of the Centre for Small State Studies, which he founded in 2002.

The outgoing President of Iceland, Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson, was Professor of History at the University of Iceland, and is set return to the University in August.
