Hugh was TEPSA’s Communications Manager and the host of ‘EU Democracy Explained’. His responsibilities included the management of all TEPSA’s communications and dissemination activities, particularly via the implementation of the organisation’s EU-funded projects including TEPSA’s “EU-Bridge” operating grant and all Horizon Europe-funded projects. In his work, Hugh regularly collaborated with relevant colleagues in TEPSA’s project management team and leadership. In addition, he managed TEPSA’s day-to-day communications activities via the organisation’s key channels and was responsible for all audio-visual content. This included facilitating collaboration within the TEPSA Network, fostering press relations, designing and preparing dissemination materials, social media campaigns and other communications outputs.

Hugh holds an MA in Modern European Studies from University College London, specialising in European integration and democracy theory, as well as disinformation and election meddling. His undergraduate studies were in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Balliol College, University of Oxford, where he focused primarily on political developments of the late Roman Republic and early Principate under the Julio-Claudian and Flavian dynasties. Before joining TEPSA, Hugh worked in Digital Communications, and undertook a long-term traineeship in the Communications department of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
