Regulatory Innovation & Disinformation: What Do Young People Think?

On 23 June 2026, IPRI-NOVA hosted a Media Literacy Incubator as part of the ChangingTIDE project, inviting young people to a workshop on combating disinformation. The Media Literacy Incubator aimed to improve the participants’ ability to spot misleading or manipulative content, learn practical tools for navigating online information, exchange ideas with other young people from across Europe, and explore the Portuguese context together with experts and civil society actors.

At the beginning and end of the workshop, participants were asked for their opinions on a number of questions related to the information ecosystem. In particular, they were invited to share their views on the effectiveness of regulatory innovation as an instrument to fight fake news.

Overall, 78% of participants believed that regulatory intervention is necessary to win over disinformation. Find out more about their perspectives by reading the infographic.
